Recently, Nanjing police arrested a mother in a local store for stealing. The police then learned that the mother had only turned to this action as a last resort because she could not afford a Children's Day gift for her sick daughter. A police officer shared the tearful story on China's twitter-like WeChat, encouraging people to donate money to the family.
